Pastor Jeffery Harrold
Jeff has been in pastoral ministry since 1982 and is the founding pastor of New Beginnings, which began in 1991. He is committed to teaching the Bible in a practical, clear manner and seeing Christians mature in their faith.
Jeff conducts a weekly bible study at the Washtenaw County Jail and is on the advisory board for Living Stones Community, a nonprofit social enterprise providing vocational training for formerly incarcerated adults in urban organic agriculture. He is co-chair of the board of directors of the Family Learning Institute, a local non-profit organization that provides a no cost supplemental academic program for low income at risk students. He is also a participant in the Mathematics Literacy Project. This is a group of educators, parents, and community leaders who work together to improve math education and math literacy for at risk students in Washtenaw County.
Jeff is a bi-vocational pastor, and is an academic advisor and member of the Academic Standards Board for the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. He serves on the U of M Diversity Council and is past president of the U of M Association of Black Professionals, Administrators, Faculty and Staff. He is also trained in social justice mediation and serves as campus mediator for the U of M Office of Student Conflict Resolution.
Jeff earned a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife Monica are the parents of three grown children by birth and two adopted by love.
